University Of Pretoria Juniortukkie, The JuniorTukkie programme of the Department of Enrollment and Student Administration at the University of Pretoria has been established to assist learners from Grade 9 to 12 to make responsible study and career choices. Grade 9 learners are also offered the opportunity to participate in certain JuniorTukkie enrichment programmes and to become members of the JuniorTukkie Club in their Grade 10-year.
JuniorTukkie develop important skills in order to better equip these learners for the challenges they may face as a student in their personal capacity as well as professionally. The JuniorTukkie programme provides among others, a wide variety of services to learners and students such as first-hand information on study and career options, develop leadership qualities, life skills, study skills, engage in community projects, and many more.

JuniorTukkie Club

The JuniorTukkie Club has been established to assist learners in Grades 10, 11 and 12 to make responsible study and career choices. JuniorTukkie also develop important skills in order to better equip these learners for the challenges they may face as a student in their personal capacity as well as professionally.

Learners in Grades 10, 11 and 12 who maintain a minimum academic average of 70% may apply for membership of the JuniorTukkie Club. Being a member of the JuniorTukkie Club, does not guarantee admission to any study programme at UP.

  • Assist Grade 12 learners with their applications for admission to study at UP.
  • Provide first-hand information on study and career options.
  • Develop leadership qualities.
  • Develop computer skills.
  • Develop life skills.
  • Develop study skills.
  • Provide Proverto study guides in various subjects.
  • Develop team work.
  • Engage in community projects.
  • Offer mathematics e-learning enrichment programmes.
  • Offer science e-learning enrichment programmes.
  • Offer LectorSA online reading programmes.
  • Offer information sessions on admission requirements.
  • Present a Grade 11 Empowerment Week (Supported by Investec).
  • Present a Grade 12 Preparation Conference (Supported by Investec).
  • Provide access to valuable information on the JT website www.up.ac.za/juniortukkie.
  • Offer assistance to Grade 9 learners and their parents on Grade 10 subject choices.
  • Offer special bursaries.
  • Present career expos.
  • Offer advice at individual schools.
  • Host open days in conjunction with faculties.
  • Build long-term relationships with prospective students.
