The aim of this programme is to bring together all aspects of the beauty industry, including professionalism, health and wellness, facials and skincare, slimming and massage, as well as business administration. You will be able to gain a job in the following areas: beauty salons, spas, health hydros, cruise ships, cosmetic houses, game lodges, hotels and health farms. All of which offer an exciting, challenging and rewarding profession.

Requirements:
- Communication at NQF Level 3/Grade 11 or equivalent
- Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3/Grade 11 or equivalent
- Knowledge in Life Sciences or Biology would be an advantage
- Admission may be subject to an interview with an academic staff member
Time you will spend on the course
- 1 year, full-time study for the City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.
- 1 year full-time study for the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Techniques
A year planner and academic calendar is available at the start of the year with dates and times of classes and campus activities to help you plan your schedule.

- Provide facial skincare
- Apply make-up

Beauty Therapy Principles 2a
- Remove hair using waxing techniques
- Provide eyelash and brow treatments
Beauty Therapy Principles 2b
- Provide manicure treatments
- Provide pedicure treatments
- Provide and maintain nail enhancement
First Aid (External module)
- Know basic first aid concepts.
- Treat and report injuries or medical emergencies.
Year 2 (2017)

Beauty Therapy Techniques 1a
- Working with colleagues within the beauty related industry
- Client care and communication in beauty related industries
Beauty Therapy Techniques 1b
- Provide facial electrotherapy treatments
- Provide body electrotherapy treatments
Beauty Therapy Techniques 2a
- Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
- Promote and sell products and services to clients
Beauty Therapy Techniques 2b
- Provide body massage
- Provide massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils
- Provide Indian head massage
- Apply individual permanent lashes
Workplace Learning (Year 1 and 2)
This programme includes a compulsory Workplace Learning component. Workplace Learning provides important opportunities for professional and personal growth. It addresses specific competencies identified for the acquisition of the qualification, which relates to the development of skills that will make the learner employable and will assist in developing his/her personal skills.

A list of prescribed textbooks will be made available at the start of the course. You will also receive an electronic version (e-guide) of this course. Textbooks are excluded from the course fee.

Year 1
Upon successful completion of Year 1, the following external certificate will be awarded to you by the external provider:
- City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy (International) (3003-76))
The following certificate will be awarded to successful you by the external provider:
- First Aid Level 1 Certificate
Year 2
Upon successful completion of Year 2, the following external certificate will be awarded to you by the external provider:
- City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Techniques (International) (3003-78)

**Whenever Damelin offers training towards a programme that will be awarded by another provider or institute, it is called an Agent Programme. In the case of an Agent Programme, Damelin registers the learners, provides tuition and conducts internal assessments. External examinations with the agent body will result in learners receiving the certificate from them.
