Mangosuthu University Of Technology Nature Conservation, This course produces competent nature conservators and resource managers to the nature conservation industry who are able to manage a conservation team with efficiency and inspiration. All of our students who achieve this qualification will be competent in sustainable management of natural resources, interpretation of the environment, enforcing the appropriate legislation and demonstrating basic knowledge of research.

MISSION

Our first concern is the country and our natural environment and we use that to inform all our decisions within the department. We endeavour to provide the highest teaching standards to our students in an atmosphere that is both participative and informative. We aim to produce graduates with practical and theoretical knowledge who will be true assets to the industry and most importantly the environment we must all share.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

National Diploma

Selection criteria for admission to the National Diploma: Nature Conservation are based on both academic prowess and field experience. Students wishing to be admitted are required to hold a Senior Certificate (or equivalent), with a minimum of a “D” symbol in English and Biology on the Higher Grade. A pass mark in Mathematics, Physical Science, or History/Geography is also a recommendation.

In addition, a CV detailing interests, hobbies, field experience and references indicating the candidate’s enthusiasm and suitability for the course must accompany a student’s completed application form.

BTECH Nature Conservation

The minimum requirement is the National Diploma Nature Conservation. Field experience and aptitude for this course are assessed before being accepted. Subjects offered in the curriculum:

DURATION OF STUDY

National Diploma: three years comprising of two years theoretical component at MUT and one year of Work Integrated Learning at a relevant conservation authority.
