Venue and location
The second regional IAFL conference in Southern Africa will be held at Stonehenge River Lodge, about 10 kilometres outside of Parys, a village in the Free State Province. The lodge is situated next to the Vaal River, and within the Vredefort Dome, a UNESCO world heritage site. Named for the French capitol, Parys is a sleepy town during the week but popular over weekends. It is known for its many bars, restaurants and antique shops. Read about Stonehenge River Lodge. For more information about Parys, see here and here. If you want to know more about the Vredefort Dome, go here and here.
OR Tambo International in Johannesburg is the closest airport to Parys. Flights from across Africa and the rest of the world connect here. Some flights are direct whereas others are by connection only. Major airlines fly to ORT. Once you have arrived in Johannesburg, you will have to make your way to Parys by car. It will take you 2 hours by car to drive from ORT to Stonehenge River Lodge.
You can either use a shuttle service or you can rent a car and do a self drive. There are many shuttle services that drive between ORT and a city called Potchefstroom, which is about 40 kilometres from Parys. For shuttle services between the airport and the conference venue, please see Rome2Rio and EZ Shuttle, among others. For car rentals, please see Europe Car, Avis, Budget or Thrifty.
