Tshwane University Of Technology Traffic Courses, Road Traffic Municipal programme falls under the Department of Safety and Security Management in the Faculty of Humanities at the university. Safety and Security Management is the scientific study of specific government departments, namely the Police, Correctional Services and Traffic Institutions as well as related issues.
The purpose of the B Tech Road Traffic Municipal programme is for students to acquire, strengthen and deepen specialist theoretical and applied knowledge of road traffic and municipal police management in public and private law enforcement environments and the broader traffic and road municipalities at local, regional and national levels. The themes that are covered include traffic systems management, current and emerging issues in municipal policing, road traffic management, public sector management and research methodologies.
The programme targets traffic police and municipal practitioners from the public sectors in the main who have an interest in advancing their knowledge and skills in municipal policing matters and traffic systems and public sector management field. The programme will appeal to municipal traffic personnel, traffic officers and other governmental employees who work in safety and security management fields with a special interest in road traffic management.

It is a further requirement that students who wish to enrol for this programme have reliable access to the internet, as the programme is offered wholly online, and students without reliable internet access will not be able to participate fully in the learning activities in the modules.
A National Diploma: Road Traffic and Municipal Police Management: Municipal and Traffic Policing or equivalent qualification. An applicant with an equivalent qualification should consult Part 1 of the Prospectus for information pertaining to status.
