UNISA Application Dates

It is advisable to keep track of the important UNISA application dates for 2020 to avoid late submissions. Unfortunately, for 2020, the requests for admission to undergraduate qualifications such as higher and advanced certificates, diplomas and advanced diplomas, PGCE, BTech & degrees are already closed.
Also, honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas admissions UNISA application for 2019 deadline have already passed.

How do I apply at UNISA?

  1. Choose your qualification

Choose a Qualification by looking through the UNISA brochure and make sure you meet the admission requirements.
It is important to remember the UNISA requires you to do all your own research and decide which qualification suites your chosen career, and whether ODL (open distance learning) is right for you.

  1. Fill in the form

You must apply for admission to UNISA by filling and submitting the admission form.
Remember to fill in your top two choices, in order of preference.  If you are accepted on both programmes you may only choose one qualification to study.

  1. Submit documents

Please be very sure you have every document, and they are submitted exactly as requested by UNISA.  If they are not exactly as specified, or not submitted, you will be automatically rejected regardless of your merits or circumstances.
You need scanned copies of the following documents handy to submit online together with your application form:
  • Certified copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate)
  • Certified copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (please note that internet copies will not be accepted)
  • Certified copy of your ID document (RSA students) or passport (international students)
  • Certified copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
  • Certified sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans
  • DSAR04 form and supporting documents if you are applying for exemptions
  1. Receive your student number

If you are accepted to study at UNISA you will you will receive a student number. Remember this student number as you’ll use it for signing up on the student portal my.unisa.ac.za, and in all further communications with the university.

  1. Application fee

You must thereafter pay a non-refundable application fee of R105.  If you are registering for non-degree purposes you can apply with hard copy, and this will cost you R160.

  1. Wait for a response

UNISA will get back to you to inform you about the outcome of your application.

  1. Register

Once your application is successful, it is now time to register your modules and start studying!
Remember that you must register in the next semester, or you will have to apply all over again in the following year.
