University Of Kwazulu Natal Social Work, Social Work is an internationally accepted profession recognized by the United Nations (UN) which hosts a special UN Social Work day every year. The Discipline of Social Work is affiliated with the International Association of Schools of Social Work. Global Standards for the education and training of social workers have been adopted by two international social work bodies. Social Work is concerned with improving the quality of life of people and the promotion of peace, human rights, equality and social justice at local, regional, national and international levels. By using theories of human behaviour and social systems, social work intervenes at the points where people interact with their environments. We offer an integrated programme approved by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) for social work students wishing to register with the South African Council for Social Services Professions (SACSSP) as professional social workers. Both undergraduate and postgraduate education are offered with extensive skills and field practice training.
