Academic Programmes

General Information
The University of Pretoria aims to be internationally competitive, while at the same time being locally relevant, this goal is supported by ensuring that the training and research programmes always meet the highest standards. The faculty adds value to its degrees, making its students sought after.
At undergraduate level the department offers a four-year and five-year Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering. At graduate level the department offers Honours, Masters and Doctoral degrees in Industrial Engineering to engineering graduates; and Honours, Masters and Doctoral degrees in Applied Science (Industrial Systems) to students with an appropriate BSc, BTech or other appropriate degree.
Our Bachelors degree programme is accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). A graduate from an accredited engineering programme is eligible for registration as a professional engineer after a minimum period of three years practical experience.
Being accredited implies that:

  • Our degree programme meets the educational requirement toward registration as a Professional Engineer;
