University Of The Witwatersrand Economic Geology Research Unit, EGRI is a research institute in the Faculty of Science , University of the Witwatersrand, and subscribes to the University’s principles and mission statement. The Institutes’ main objective is to undertake internationally recognised research in the field of metallogeny, and more specifically in the study of the nature, timing and origin of mineralisation and their host rocks. EGRI also strives to provide comprehensive and high quality training in economic geology to undergraduates in the School of Geosciences, and to offer research opportunities for the provision of world-class postgraduate students at the Masters and Doctoral levels. EGRI also maintains high quality analytical and laboratory facilities designed to serve the research needs of the Institute as well as the general needs of the School and Faculty.
